Today I am bursting at the seams with excitement!!

I'm sure most of you had read on the Facebook Fan page about the mishap that we've had to endure this summer. It was about mid May & I started feeling very ill, I was going to bed early, waking up late, & could have slept all day if someone would have let me! Dave spent hours on the computer searching for parasites, he was convinced I had one, my sister tried to pin me with a heart condition, my best friend who is a nurse believed I had endometriosis, & I, once again, was certain that there was some type of cancer invading my body. My mother in law & mom questioned pregnancy a multitude of times but...no way, no how, not me!! I was defying the odds of the unplanned pregnancy, I had myself fully convinced that it was virtually impossible because in my past experiences, I was the Gucci, the Prada of pregnancy. Gain a couple pounds, work 16 hour days up until the day you give birth, breeze through with no symptoms, & come out skinnier on the other side. At times I had even thought about offering myself up as a surrogate mother because to me, it was that easy. To our surprise, for the 3rd time, yes the queen of the unplanned pregnancy speaking here, we were going to add a little more joy, a little more laughter, & a little more crying to our already hectic lives. I was on a daily search for a 5 bedroom house, we thought about larger vehicles, & our baby names were just about set in stone. Everyone joked that it had to be twins because I was just "TOO pregnant" this time....
and that is when we got another surprise! Low & behold, the good lord thought my stomach was noah's ark & he was bringing these babies in 2 by 2. Twins it was & for 15 glorious minutes thoughts & images flashed through my mind as tears just streamed down my face. Some delightful, others quite frightening. Then I was blindsided and hit with the news that became the epicenter of my entire summer...they were 9.5 weeks and had no heartbeats..what did I want to do? What I really wanted to do go grab Mr. Momi in the waiting room, run to the car, and let myself become an emotional wreck..and that was pretty much exactly what I did. Over the next 3 weeks we bounced back & forth between 3 different doctors & became more than emotionally taxed. Mr. Momi was convinced after the first doctor, it took me 2 more opinions & I still was uneasy about the situation because there wasn't even a hint of a sign that these babies weren't ok, except for what the doctors couldn't find on the radar. In my head I always worry that someone is going to steal our children out of their beds in the middle of the night, Dave is going to crash on the way to the grocery store & never return, I am going to get cancer & die at a young age, or one of the girls will end up on the face of a milk carton after their senior trip to Aruba. In my mind everything horrific in the world is going to happen to my family so, I don't know why I was so headstrung that there was no way, no how, that this could happen!
I told Mr. Momi on the way to the 2nd opinion ultrasound that if "these babies" didn't have heartbeats, we are going to Hawaii. Well, techinically I said we are going to Hawaii in September, North Carolina in October, Floriday in November, & Vegas in December. :) It wasn't a celebration trip, more of a calm after the storm & something to look forward to if all hope should die.

Tonight we make our departure for paradise! It is a trip that I told Mr. Momi back in February that there was "no way, no how" we were going to be able to go...for a friend's wedding. We are beyond thrilled to be getting away, childless, for our friend's wedding, for our anniversary, & to be taking it back to where our life together started, the girls were born, & the sun was always shining! Hawaii to me is sacred ground & I really can't recall a bad memory from the years I lived there! My entire life fell into place while I lived there. I met Mr. MOMI, the girls were born, Momi boutique was started, & I got married. Everything's perfect in paradise, right?! Aside from coming home to the girls..it is going to be even MORE hard to leave Hawaii this time. The girls are aware that we are leaving tonight & this will be the first time we've ever left them for more than 24 hours...guilty mommy syndrome has set in!

We will be out of town until September 9th so all "MOMI event days" have been canceled through September 8th! There will be a new Friday Flirt skirt posted, mid day, on September 9th! Hi there...it's me MOMI. I always think to myself..if for some reason I was blessed with another baby..would I name her Momi? haha Probably not!

To say my blog has been neglected is an understatment, I feel like facebook has just taken over the reigns....it works alot better than sitting here typing up a novel! However, at times there are issues that need to be addressed in regards to this brand that take up more than 420 characters..especially when you are as wordy as me!
If you are a MOMI follower I am sure you are well aware that I have different limited edition days of the week and some are posted and purchased on facebook, one in particular is auctioned off on facebook...MOMI's Melting pot Monday...dun dun dun...

I hate being the bearer of bad news, I would much rather blog about something lighthearted & upbeat...however, when things are just fine and dandy I'm usually working on orders or trying to spend 10 seconds with my family...which I am sure all of you moms out there can understand.

Now onto the root of the topic...you may want to close your ears because as my mom gets shocked when she reads my blog posts saying that I am brutally honest..this post will be no different! Call my the Taylor Swift of the blog world...if something happens you better believe there is going to be a blog post about it! I have nothing to hide, ever.

MOMI boutique has been in business for 4 years..it was not started because of my love for sewing, or because everyone in my neighborhood wanted to purchase my items, it was also not started completely out of boredom or to make me feel good about myself. MOMI boutique was started as a means of survival. Yes, granted I LOVE what I do, I had always wanted to go to Philadelphia college of textile & design but, even the grant that I had received was not enough to make it affordable for my family and I ended up going to a state university for Marketing. Call it a miracle or a simple twist of fate that I am actually living out my dream! I feel blessed and thankful but, trust me...it did not just all fall in my lap. There has been ALOT of blood, sweat, and tears in this journey of building this business from the ground up.

Here is my rags to ridiculousness story since I know you all love a good story! ......Dave bought me a sewing machine for christmas, a month after Lily was born. When I was pregnant I wanted a $200 crib bedding set that we could not afford so I would sit in my bedroom at night and hand stitch ugly little pillows, I even painted circles on crib sheets..PAINTED...WHO paints on crib sheets!!?? Me who had no idea what she was doing! Here's the set and now it's on Sale..4 years too late!.. http://www.blanketmybaby.com/bubble-gum-4-piece-baby-bedding-set ...Darn it! Trust me, I won't have another baby even though it seems tempting :)

Back to the beginning...I had been working as a substitute teacher and a full time waitress up until the day before Lily was born. We lived in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment in Hawaii and someone managed to gamble all of their money away on sunday afternoon football games the week before Lily was born leaving me to pay all of the rent and in a terrible situation since I was about to go on maternity leave. I felt like we were in dire straights. Yes, we both have solid family foundations but, it's not something you call home to your parents about! My luck at the time, I ended up on extended maternity leave because my doctor cut me like a thanksgiving turkey and it was painful to walk for more than 5 minutes straight for about 6 months! TMI :) I had to do something, I was scared to death of the sewing machine and it sat in its box for almost 2 months. My mom sewed as a hobby my whole life and I would always stand over her shoulder and watch so one day I thought..why not! I broke that baby out and went to town. In between Lily's colic crying I was teaching myself how to sew. Eventually I went back to my "real jobs" and I slowly I started selling on ebay. My first dress sold for $5.25. I was over the moon. I thought it was the greatest thing in all of the world. My heart was in it and I kept at it non stop. I had alot of outward support and motivation from friends and some who thought I was crazy. That christmas season I sold a "fancy" dress on ebay and it ended for $250. I think I walked into the restaurant to work that night on cloud nine & wore a smile the whole night, not because of the $, even though it was a nice motivation but, because I knew this was real, it was happening, my hard work was being noticed by many. I had no idea I was building a business or any idea what was to be in the future. As time went on I got better and I had repeat customers who would buy oodles of items from me. I really couldn't have been more lucky and fortunate. MOMI kept growing and 1.5 years later after Leah was born I quit my day jobs since we were moving off the island and half way across the world. Dave got a good job when we moved home and I decided to put every ounce of my energy into MOMI. It was at that point that I pulled of ebay because I was tired of the weekly bidding. I streamlined alot and offered a larger variety of items. That is when things really started to boom. The growth of MOMI has become exciting, yet scarey to me. It is not something that I asked for but, definately something that I hoped for & it is a reflection of my dedication and hard work toward my business. I do not just sit back and delegate duties to employees, I am in my sewing room, away from my children for the majority of the day, slaving away. I do not have a factory overseas or even down the street. I wish I did! I do not have a customer service rep that sits and anwsers all of my emails..I wish I did, I am at the front line of EVERYTHING that happens with MOMI. In spite of that, I tend to keep my personal emotions out of it and try not to take anything personally. I have always tried to keep myself very seperated from other designers and their personal lives because I feel that I would rather not be involved in drama of any sort & it seems like the "boutique world" can become just that, drama. When people knock off my work, then it does become my business, and my problem, and you better believe I am going to say something diplomatically about it.
Regardless of that...the point of this post...it has/had become apparent to me that there is a situation that needs to be addressed in regards to the amount of money that people are willing to pay for my work. It seems as though my Melting pot designs have become a breeding ground for drama and unnecessary comments. I have realized this for a few weeks now on chat forums where people are making comments about the "ridiculously high amounts" that people are bidding on my melting pot tops. I have deleted multiple comments over the past weeks on my fan page after the auctions ends such as... "are you ladies crazy?" "WOW", "don't you think that is a little high?". I realize some people may say it all with a grain of salt and really put no thought into it or think that it will have an effect on anyone. If you don't think that I am blown away by the bids or sometimes feel half way guilty, your wrong because I do. However, I do also know the dynamics of supply and demand. From the outside looking in, there is no telling how many "followers"/"buyers" I have, how many different countries I ship to every week, or the magnitude of items MOMI sells on a weekly basis. There is more to all of this than what meets the eye. If my items were all made in a factory or I had multiple sewers, that would be a different story. Yes, there is a supply/demand factor and my prices are reflective of that. If I priced my items differently I would burn out and put myself out of business because I would NOT be able to keep up. I am pretty sure that is has already all become too much because just the other day I had a 2 hour "fit" about how I'm not sure that this is even fun anymore for me and that I feel like a caged animal everyday shackled to a sewing chair with someone standing behind my back with a whip in their hand. haha I may have become melodramatic at some point in my life but, that is just how I felt at that moment. Trust me, I am not going anywhere but forward..regardless if I need a 2 day vacation from my sewing chair or not. The reason I felt this way is becasue this business has once again become my means of survival after my emotions were thrown to the edge of the earth and I had to make my husband quick his job and work for me because of scanadlous situations at his work. Yes, I went through h*ll and back to earn my first employee. If some people consider me lucky because I get to spend 24 hours a day with my husband or because I have a "helper"..trust me, I would rather be in YOUR shoes. Yes, I love him to the end of the earth and back and he has the patience of a saint but, working with your husband is not all sunshine and rainbows.
When MOMI says it is a OOAK, it is not a joke. They are truly just that, One of a Kind. Sure, if I was really all in this for the money I could cut off my whole website and just sit here and sew melting pot swing tops and auction them off everyday. Obviously that is not happening and because of that, there is a high demand and a low supply. Now, granted I am not the inventor of a patchwork dress, nor did I EVER think/say I was but, for my OOAK spin offs of a patchwork dress there is a low supply & a high demand...people want what they want...and good luck changing their mind. The fact is, unneccessary comments do have an effect on the bidders and it also is a slap to my business and degrading knowing in my mind how hard I have worked. Maybe I do sew them with golden thread while my golden geese that lay golden eggs watch me sew! Maybe I don't. However, I am not worried about someone hurting my feelings but, it does matter when people are making MOMI customers, who buy from me on a weekly basis, the heart and soul of my brand, feel like they need to feel that they are doing something wrong. It is not ok when I receive an email from a very loyal customer of mine saying that she has been awake since 2 am because she has received many emails from multiple people who have personally attacked her because of her high bid. Nor would it have been ok with me if it was ANY of my customers who said they have been attacked because of the amount they were willing to spend on this brand. Everyone spends their money on something and everyone is entitled to do just that. It is not something out of this world for people to have designer brands that they are "hooked" on or have a restaurant that they love and eat at every week. Some people have lavish homes, some have fancy cars, some gamble (AHHH!), some vacation, some throw amazing parties, some do it all, regardless...to each is own! I truly believe that everyone that follows MOMI comes from something great, I believe that you are all educated and smart women so please just use caution when commenting in regards to what people choose to spend their money on. Everyone in this world is in a different financial situation and regardless if you have the money to spend on MOMI boutique or you buy your kids play clothes at Target like me, that shouldn't matter to anyone else. I would personally never comment on someone elses spending unless it was my best friend who tried her hand at extreme couponing and spent a couple hundred dollars on cat food for a cat that she doesn't even have! Yeah, then I may voice my 2 sense! Whether someone is bidding $500 dollars on a One of a Kind design from MOMI, a resell item of MJ's on ebay, or on a doll from Bambo over in her corner...it is no one else's business and so maybe this all swings back to being my own fault. However, it took ebay how many years and probably 20 million complaints to realize that they need to disquise the usernames of bidders on their site, so I don't think that I have failed completely considering it has only taken me a few months! I hadn't realized that it was going to come down to any of this so, maybe in the next weeks, if I can find 10 seconds to figure out how to set up a hyena cart account the melting pot auctions will be moved there. This will protect the identity of bidders.
On a lighter note, my in laws, who I adore, are in town for a week and my sister is moving home from Hawaii on Saturday!! ...and I just found my 3 year old who somehow lost her very last "paci" last night, laying in her room sucking on her toes. HAHA are we still in dire straights?....that is debatable! I hope you all are enjoying your first bursts of summer and making alot of memories!

Just a little side note to say Happy Saturday.....& if you are interested in purchasing an item/items that have not been "relisted" on my etsy site, most likely you can find it on my website http://www.momiboutique.com/. I have not been "relisting" sold items as frequently on my etsy site because I have been having large influxs of orders at http://www.momiboutique.com/ & the purchasing process seems to go alot smoother for all. It is nicer for you as the MOMI addict because the layout of the page allows for easier searching & larger front images. All "add ons" or modifications are "spelled out" under each item & unless an item is truly sold out, it is always available for purchase...you do not have to email me or wait for me to "relist" it! It has really been nice for me on my end because just when I thought I was going to really have to consider hiring a customer service rep, http://www.momiboutique.com/ became the new found hit place to purchase MOMI (vs. my etsy site), my orders increased X's 3 & my emails decreased X's 3. I certainly hadn't seen that one coming in my crystal ball! Since you have to enter a size to purchase at http://www.momiboutique.com/, it cuts down on alot of time...& at the moment I need every spare second I can get! It has also helped to eliminate most "private listings". I really couldn't be happier!

I also need to let you know that I am gearing up to go out of town on April first to shoot my summer line..which will be released near the begining of April. I do not have an exact date at the moment as I am relying on mother nature, who typically has a mind of her own! :)
I will not return until April 8th or possibly a little longer depending on how much fun we are having! I am so fortunate that my in laws have an ocean front duplex rental property in Carolina that they so graciously let us stay at, pretty much whenever the mood strikes. I think it was the only thing that really saved our sanity moving from Hawaii to PA, knowing we had a place to escape to. We have such a great time down at the beach house, we are usually never ready to come ome!...but, we always do! Unfortunately for Mr. MOMI & the girls, I have to keep everyone pretty grounded in PA due to the workload of owning a business. I have made promises though that one day we will head out of town for good & get our own place by the sea...in the 20 year plan :)

All items purchased from March 20th - March 31st have a potential 4 week turn around until shipment. I would strongly urge you to place your orders asap if you are hoping to have them for Easter. I know this seems quite strange & so very long to wait, especially since MOMI has become notorious for it's very fast turn around but, please do know that I am turning orders as fast as humanly possible at the moment with the amount of orders that I have coming in daily & the circumastance that I was only born with two hands! :) I believe I have been pulling "all nighters" now, more than I had in college!!

MOMI boutique 101

If you're new to MOMI boutique, or feel completely lost in the dark in regards to all of the "event days" that MOMI has going on, this one is for you!....

History lesson:

It all started 2 years ago with what I termed Art Show Saturday. Since I literally spent 15 hrs a day in my sewing room it was my "15 minutes"of escaping from the mudane each week & letting my imagination run wild. I created ONE set/piece/dress/whatever I felt like in that moment & ritually every Saturday morning at 11am EST posted it in my etsy shop as a "One of a Kind" design. "One of a Kind" in MOMI's book means that the piece will not be duplicated/recreated, it is the only one of its kind, & your little girl will be the only one in the world to own that piece!

A year later, due to unforseen circumstances, I made Mr. MOMI quit his day job. That was not something to take lightly, he was the top salesman at a local auto group. It was a huge risk but, it had to happen. During the first month he was home & after finally realzing what was really involved in my days & that I never stopped working, he would constantly comment that I needed a hobby. I'm not sure what he was thinking becasuse I was basically forced to kick everything into survival mode, my 15 hour days became 18 hr days & there was just absolutely no time for a hobby. My "event days" came about to satisfy my "need" for a hobby....when the "normal" working world works 5 days a week, I work 8..& because of this I can justify that extra time I take to dream away & create these OOAK pieces. Orders do take priority over OOAK days. If MOMI boutique becomes so overloaded that I don't feel I have a grasp on things, I will full on stop the event days. I would never put a paying customer 2nd in line to my "hobby". However, that does not mean that just because I have orders I will stop the event days. At this point orders are a constant & the OOAK's are worked into the 5 hours a day that most people would have already left the office....I hope this is all making sense!!
At the end of the day, regardless of my "crazy workaholic ways", I am still human, life happens, I have 2 small children with 2 little hands that each need to be held, I have a house, a husband, & family, I also have a few friends but, they would probably like to kick me to the curb because I am always busy. :)
There are days when things are just not feasible for one reason or another & I will post on my facebook wall that the "event" of the day is not happening.

Except for Saturday, there is no rhyme or reason to what time I post the designs of the day. I may give warning on my facebook fan page wall as to an upcoming time, other days it is whatever works at the moment. It is a HUGE commitment on my end to have designs made/photographed & ready to post 5 days a week, I can not commit to a specific time each day...if that would end of having to be the case, that is when the luster would be lost, my hobby would become a hassel, & the magic would be gone. :)

Another one bites the dust

Here we go again..a topic that I have spent 10 seconds too long dwelling on in the past & has caused me nothing but complete annoyance & headache for 2 years coming. I created this original design 2 years ago for my spring collection. (hence, Lily, thumbsucker,age 2) I did not have a pattern for it, I did not draw inspiration from anywhere but the fabrics I saw before me, I went on a whim, & put my heart & soul into it.

Spring 2009

I attempted to replenish the fabrics last year but, they were delivered too late in the season. I could take the high road here but, since I'm pretty much a "hold nothing back" kind of person, I have to say thank you to the designer who took it into her own hands to recreate one of my designs, once again...from the ribbon & the lace down to the double ruffle bottom pants & every ruffle in between, in a different fabric combination. I thought the knockoffs were only sold on the streets of New York, not on etsy where people are paying $100's of dollars for a designers original piece of art. Personally I wouldn't be able to sit easy & sleep at night knowing that I have basically just been riding the coat tails of another designer or taking my inspiration from them to the absolute extreme.

I know there is no way to stop people from replicating your work, it has be done since the begining of time in every industry, especially the fashion world. At a fashion seminar that Mr. MOMI & I attended in NYC last month it was proclaimed almost first & foremost that indeed this is one thing that you have absolutely no control over. However, is it still beyond frusturating when I'm losing sleep at night thinking "out of the box", to deliver a design to set myself apart from the other 20 gas stations on the street. It is clear in my perspective now why at the end of the day I am completely exhausted. For the past 2 years I have not only been the brains behind the designs of MOMI boutique, but, it seems as though I am also pulling the weight of others.

For example: take this ballerina set that sold in the Spring 2009. I purchased this exact fabric in a pink colorwary intending to recreate my exact design with the pink fabric, when the white sold out. Unfortunately, for me, before I had 10 seconds to turn my pink fabric into my design, a replica of this design from lace on the bodice, to the double ruffle bottom showed up in another etsy shop in the pink ballerinas. At that point I have 2 options, list my design up anyway in the pink & risk people thinking that now I was the one who "copied", or just let it go, sit on the fabric, & dream up something else eventually. Call it pride but
a design that was going to be easy for me to offer turned into a complete lose & the fabric sat in my armoire for over a year before I finally turned it into a OOAK & a Friday Flirt skirt, and fabulous it was! :)

At the end of the day it makes my head spin....I feel like I can't even go back & recreate some of my designs because, somebody already did. I don't think it would bother me so much, and maybe I would have never even noticed the extreme similarity, if this certain someone hadn't drawn attention to themselves 2 years ago when their shop opened & asked me to do a dress trade with them because my dresses were "just darling". They had nothing to offer in their shop except a fancy dress that my girls had no use for & a big costume thing. Little did I know what was really going on.

I debated writing this blog but, it is something that rides heavy on my mind almost every day, or at least every season. I always have to brace myself for the worst, and it usually comes. Above & beyond anything else in all of my ranting, I just want to say cheers...Cheers to the facts of life.....Cheers to the reality that I will never have the opportunity to become mindless in my endeavor because the competition will always keep me at the brink. Whether that be at the brink of success or losing my mind, that is yet to be determined!
At the end of the day, MOMI boutique will always be MOMI boutique...and no one can take that rare.beautiful.genuine away!

If you haven't heard...regardless of the weather outside your window....Spring has officially sprung at MOMI boutique. If you haven't yet placed your order, I would highly recommend taking a look at the Spring 2011 lineup in my ETSY SHOP as the fabric supply is dwindling at a rapid rate!! Once the designs are sold out, they will not be replenished and I can tell you for certain there are items that are about to see their last few dancing days!

Please note if you do place an order I am currently on a 3-4 week turn around time. Gasp..I know, very uncharacteristic of MOMI boutique. Trust me, if I could fly in those North Pole elves, we would be rockin' & rollin' but, have no fear I am very "OCD" when it comes to leaving things undone and have bearly slept a wink in a week! I will probably be back down to my 2 week or less turn around by mid week next week You know things are slightly crazy when Mr. MOMI is up and willingly working at 3am. The man is getting more job responsibilities by the day and I even contemplated teaching him how to sew on a button, it didn't happen but, you get the point! He chooses to go the moral support route and serenade me with his guitar skills..or lack thereof :)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, MOMI boutique is no longer accepting custom/special requests. In a perfect world I would love to but, I am in a position where I have a clothing line that is growing at a rate that is almost beyond my relm. For me special requests are a double edged sword.

I feel like MOMI is in the position it is in because of special requests and.....I feel like MOMI is in the position that it is in because of....ding ding..special requests! It is what puts a smile on my face at the end of the day and what also makes me have less time to take MOMI in the direction I want to take it in. Here is the groundwork 101:

MOMI boutique accomodates special request = very happy customer=customer tells friends=customer returns=customer wears MOMI everyday..yay! = Big smile for MOMI

I will be completely honest and say that I do truly enjoy some special requests that I receive because they provide great moments of inspiration, in a day when that is sometimes hard to find, & I honestly am happy to accomodate a strap change & a this or that, here or there. I am not in any way, shape, or form targeting any one person. In this week alone I have received 23 emails in regards to custom requests/tweaking designs. I wish I could say yes to everyone, if I had 12 hands & an endless supply of each fabric, I would. I am simply trying to paint the picture & help everyone to understand why I am at this time not willing to do something that at one time seemed very "second nature". I think what has thrown me for a loop is I have realized that although I do LOVE "customer service", I do not have the hours in my day to customer service items that I do not offer in my shop and that is what I have been spending a great deal of my days doing. I truly hope that no one will take any offence to this and your heart will still belong to MOMI!

Worst boss in the world

I always had a hunch that if I had anyone actually working for me I would be deemed the worst boss in the world. I know that I am the worst boss that I have ever had! Long hours, emergency bathroom breaks only, no phone calls, 5 minute meal breaks, must work 7 days a week, holidays, weekends, work before socialization & if the calendar ever adds on an 8th day to the week you better believe I will be sitting in my sewing chair smiling! But, at the end of the day I LOVE it! I wouldn't trade it for any other "job" in the world.

Mr. MOMI is not as much a die hard as me when it comes to the whole "work all day" attitude. I believe he thinks work is slightly overrated so, with a little bit of give & take, at the end of the day, we balance each other out nicely.

Some of you probably don't know this but, way back in the begining of time Mr. MOMI was actually MY boss. gasp! Yes it is VERY true. We met while working at an Italian restaurant in Hawaii. (now doesn't that just sound romantic, haha) Typical situation..I was the waistress & he was my boss. It was a Romeo/Juliet sitution, bosses were not permitted to date anyone in the restaurant. Well, that didn't work for us & along came Lily. The restaurant kept us both around but, in order for it to seem like Mr. MOMI wasn't playing "favorites" with me or giving me any special treatment, I think I was the hardest worked pregnant girl in the history of Auntie Pasto's! It was..Rachel fill the ice bucket, Rachel carry 25 lbs of plates, Rachel take all the extra tables, Rachel work a double the day before you are due. It was grand & I think I lost weight during that pregnancy.

Little did Mr. MOMI know that one day the tables would turn and on this day, January 8, 2011 as he turns the wonderful age of 32, he is happily cutting out 27 flirt skirts. Here's to you Mr. MOMI for letting those tables turn & trying to redeem yourself in everyway that you possibly can...and that my friends is how our world keeps spinning & how I can stand to work at home with my husband everyday. We are "pro" at it!

Well hello 2011, it's so nice to finally see you, I've been anxiously awaiting your arrival all year! I hope everyone has had a very enjoyable & safe holiday season & here's three cheers to all of your new year's resolutions, which have hopefully not been broken quite yet! (afterall..we are only 1 day out from the fresh start of the new year!) I'm still undecided on what my resolutions are/should be. I will figure that out in good time. Whatever is to be in 2011 I am ready to take it head on because 2010 sure did hit me with it's best shot...and although my stability may be debatable, I did make it out in one piece! We have had an extremely eventful holiday season that included my best friend's wedding. The 4 layer cake that we helped her make turned out to be a real face smashing success!

However, it's appearance was amazing to start! (I didn't help with the cake, I'm capable of burning a poptart & my decorating skills are for dresses only. I did save her sanity a few times though & Mr. MOMI rolled the fondant &put about 2million little edible pearls on the bottom tier)

I may be bias but, the flower girls were just about as cute as could be.

The pastor commented that they were the best flowergirls he has ever seen. They may begin their career in 2011 as "rental flowergirls" equipped with custom dresses to coordinate with your wedding party.

I'm fairly certain that may be illegal but, it may be necessary if Mr. MOMI doesn't put down the guitar I gave him for Christmas & get back in the sweltering shop to help me work. It's so bad he even takes the thing to bed! I don't know if he is trying to run away to Nashville to become the next Johnny Cash or the next Taylor Swift out of Berks county. Whatever it is..I will support that art because I'm just about ready to retire & live like a rockstar..see, here is a blurry/discolored picture to prove it! (don't ask who spilled something on my dress, I'm sure it couldn't have been me)

All in all the holiday season was a grand one! We had visitors in from out of state, had our fun & said our farewells so now it is back to the little world of MOMI for us!

My dear sister should be arriving at our doorstep any moment now from Hawaii! We have not seen her for almost 7 months so we have been anxiously awaiting her arrival & Dave has been cleaning the house top to bottom..I would take credit for some of the cleaning but, it's true, I am just terrible at cleaning & he is SOO darn good at it!

I have appointed him the master fabric organizer & it is upon his request that I MUST have a studio SALE to clear out some of the designs that are so perfectly adding to the gorgeousness in the closet...

I am OVER THE MOON right now & so extremely proud of a very close friend of mine from Hawaii! She just recently moved with her husband to Oregon (he's a sailor) & she opened her own Spa!! Riki is all around one of the most fabulous people i've ever met & I am so extremely tempted to go to Oregon to let her glam me up before my best friend's wedding I am in on Saturday! She is one of those people that just make you feel gorgeous inside & out. Riki is my girl & I am just squeeling with delight & so happy that she is making her dreams come true. To see her happy, just makes my day! We always had the best time, all of the time! She is an amazing makeup artist & would sneek me in the tanning beds where she worked when no one had appointments (I know, it's sad but true, people in hawaii still went to tanning beds). Now look at me, I moved to Pennsylvania & I am a mess in a dress! I'm lucky if my face sees makeup & my hair gets washed once a week...haha. I sure could use a little bit of Riki in my life! There is nothing too exciting going on at the house of MOMI. Just trying to hold it all together, as always! I am truly beginning to feel like we live in an elf workshop! My father-in-law had sent a "build it yourself" doll house for the girls a few months ago & Dave has finally found enough time to start bringing this "thing" to life. So while I am upstairs sewing dresses for all of the children of the world, he is down in the basement, like a little elf, building a dollhouse. I tried to convince "Jacob" our "elf on the shelf" that I bought a few weeks back to at least get off his bum & start helping out with these toys but, he's not interested. I am just REALLY hoping that I am allowed to paint this dollhouse when it is complete...preferably a nice pink &green with some classy polka dots, I'm sure that is not what my father in law had in mind but, hopefully I can accomplish this before he drives up next week & shatters my dreams of a pink/green polka dot dollhouse. :)

a huge THANK YOU to all who have referred friends, placed holiday orders, & uploaded gorgeous pics of their MOMI girls!! My huge thank you is not even enough, as I could never express how grateful I am to have some of the most gorgeous children out there sporting my designs & the most awesome MOMI shoppers a girl could ask for! Now if I could just ship in some elves from the North Pole to help me sew up all of these dresses, I might be in good shape! Unfortunately, Mr. Momi has still not mastered the craft. I think I will spare him that domestic skill. I do believe that cooking, cleaning, raising the children, & doing the laundry on top of packaging & ironing is just about as far as he is going to let me take it. No New Holland Toyota you can not have him back no matter how many times you call & ask & no matter how many different manager positions you offer him! :) MOMI boutique REALLY needs him. We always have a good chuckle because I honestly do not think that I had received so many compliments on how nicely my items were packaged, until he started packaging them. Now at least once a week someone comments on it & I am always sure to let him know. He just smiles. I guess this is my first baby step in letting go and realizing that I may not be the best person for every single little thing that goes into making MOMI boutique keep spinning.

I will be closed through tomorrow, which disappointingly means no sister set sunday but, I will be diligently working on all recent orders & hopefully have them out by the end of the week!

I am SO excited to be back down at the beach visiting family, friends, & have a little time away from the sewing machine! I contemplated packing it in the car but, after looking over the LARGE amount of Holiday/winter designs that I have been so diligently working on for the past week....I know that I already have my work cut out for me...to say the least! Mr. Momi tried to convince me to model all of the clothes on my "headless horseman child" in our own yard before we leave so we don't have to pack the outfits in the car. I was appalled haha I would rather walk over burning coals then photograph these designs on our headless horseman child, especially since we have 2 little girls who can bring these outfits to life! I finally eased his pain, pulled a Lollipop bride out of my pocket & Leah to the side door. Here is the cooperation I received in return....

But, for a rookie...I have to say she isn't half bad!

MOMI's holiday/winter collection will make it's way into my etsy shop & http://www.momiboutique.com/ by October 10th at the latest. I still have a large amount of pieces to photograph & I plan to photograph most of them at a new location here in NC! Although beach modeling would be much more convenient since all we have to do it step outside the house...it wasn't my vision of holiday & winter!

But, I do believe Lily pulled it off pretty well for the few designs we decided to shoot today.

Lily is a huge Olivia fan..I've had to remind her several times that her teachers' name is not going to be Mrs. Hogenmiller. She chose to wear her Olivia rock star shirt on her first day of preschool & I mananged to convince her to wear the cinnamon strips ..it was a fairly easy task once I pointed out that Olivia had the very same pants on! She told Mr. MOMI this afternoon that they are not her pants, they are her lucky tights..

Here, in all of her goofiness, is my little preschool rock star....

A chip off the Old block

My mom was sitting in my living room the other day & out of nowhere stated the obvious..."You haven't blogged in awhile"....don't worry mom, my time lately has been well spent trying to convnice a 3 year old to wear a dress to school. When I was younger I honestly thought that I would probably become a writer someday. You know, something along the lines of a Carrie Bradshaw in NYC but, before I knew it I was on a plane to Hawaii, got stary eyed over a boy, had some beautiful babes, &started sewing dresses. Little did I know my friends & family would line up to read my blog....well, here's to you Mom..the moment you have been waiting for since I was 4 years old...my payback has finally come!

Chapter 45: The ugly side of custom boutique

It's been a mysterious wonder to me how I ever ended up having my world completely revolve around dresses, children's clothing, &coordinating fabrics. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE what I do & wouldn't want it any other way. But, here is something that may just make you go..hmmm....

It seems that some girls want to wear dresses every single day when they are little & some girls are on the polar opposite end of the spectrum. Chalk me & Lily up on the anti dress list.

Age 4-13: I wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with a dress....and no one in the world was going to convince me to wear one. I remember many, many temper tantrums in my parents bathroom when I was very young as we were trying to get ready for important events. By junior high I just made the executive decision to completely avoid all formal events where a dress was required. I'm not really sure what the turning point was..possibly when I made the cheerleading squad, I'm pretty sure they didn't allow non skirt wearers on the team so, the spell was broken. Hallelujah!

Age:14-?: I could not match....anything...ever. My sister would get very irritated at me every morning coming into her room.."does this match?, does this match?"...I will use my non matching ways to my complete advantage & maybe that is my little secret behind MOMI that I shouldn't have leaked out :)....

It is quite amazing to me that I basically sit around everyday matching fabrics & sewing dresses.

Now in a perfect world my daughter would be nothing like me, she would LOVE dresses, she would be the little MOMI girl walking through the preschool door everyday in her new MOMI dress...sigh. You would think from the pics that that was the gist of the story here because she usually pulls it off so well...errr, wrong, think again!

Not my little apple that fell 1 centimeter from the tree, she wants NOTHING to do with a dress....these are the disturbing words that I hear coming from her little 3 year old mouth..."I do not want to wear a Beeeaauutiful dress, I want to wear ugly clothes"..."I want to wear boy tshirts, I'm a rockstar"..."I don't want my pink cool shoes, I want to wear my tennis shoes"..."I want to wear the boy shirts from uncle j"....someone please save my soul! On the bright side, she sure does provide for some great inspiration for me to have to keep thinking outside the box. Now if I can at least get her in a tshirt & ruffle pants on her first day of preschool tomorrow....I will feel truly accompolished.

I guess I know who may take on the role of designing MOMI's boy line...you may just have to wait about 22 years :)

Pretty Poster Child

Tonight I had a chuckle..I have a few new flower girl/pageant/party dresses making there way into MOMI boutique & I've been ho-huming around about "the look" I want for these pictures. I'm not usually that narotic when it comes to pictures but, there was a pretty particular look I had in mind for this Chocolate dream dress..tree lined railroad tracks, a little girl with ringlet curls, & a nice vintage touch. Needless to say I stepped Lily up to bat since she is easy access & typically cooperative with just a $1 bribe. Not today ladies & gentlemen! The ringlet curls were all beautifully in place & we headed out to the tracks only to have her fall asleep in the car..no biggie. The sun was blasting & I can't make a picture look good to save my soul when there is blasting sun.

A few hours later I tried to bribe Lily while she was "working", so she proclaimed, helping Mr. MOMI dig a garden. I tried to bribe her with $1..not a chance..this little garden digger was not budging. Can I really blame her?..no..she's been modeling basically every MOMI design since the beginning of MOMI..that would put her at exactly 3 months old..poor little girl couldn't even sit up on her own but, we managed. I finally sealed the deal with $5 for a pair of roller skates but, then she shouted at me.."but I need one for the other foot!". Little did I know my 3 year old is smart enough to know that roller skates do not cost $5. To top it off, she tried to convince me to let her hold her pink shovel as she modeled the dress...not a chance lady!

What's in a name?

Today I had a semi embarrassing/"Duh Rachel" moment and of course since I hold nothing back....how could I keep this from you! I received a message from a sweet lady on etsy this morning stating that my shop was just lovely & this dress (pictured above & below) had quite a unique name which caught her attention. She perceded to tell me that Californication is the combination of the two words California & fornication & she would hate for me to lose any customers due to the name being inappropriate.

So, I thought to myself..what?.. did my college education really do nothing for my vocabulary because I have absolutely no idea, still, why someone would be offended by this name. Oh cheese & rice...I'm from Pennsylvania...what do I know about Californication!!?? I thought it was just a rockin' way of saying someone was turning into a Hollywood Blvd babe...star studded glitz & glam, sunkissed skin, golden locks. It's been over a month since I've blogged....I've held out on you. I've been told to watch my P's, Q's, &every comma in between...and that's not really easy for me so I figured silence is golden. I'm a good rambler & I can go off in every direction..I'm sure you can tell that just by looking at the clothes I design! My personal life has been nothing short of a nightmare....

My life is running pretty much parrallel to that of Sandra Bullock's. Tis true that I woke up exactly a month ago, to this day, to find out that the man I married, who I thought to be a four star general turned out to actually be a Russian spy. (not literally) Little did I know that I've been sleeping with the enemy. (Actually, my gut knew..a woman's intuition never fails) I'm sure you are following what I'm trying to say. I have never felt such utter humiliation or lifeless in all of my life. I've spent my days walking through a tunnel with absolutely no way of knowing if there is a light at the end, a sign that says "do not pass go, do not collect $200", or if I'm going to take a slight detour of my own & run for the hills. It's dishearting, to say the least, finding out that when you gave it your all, your best was never good enough. That's the stage I'm in at this moment & my emotions are like an automobile engine idling on high. Unlike Miss Bullock, I took the road less traveled & decided to work through the tough times....after I heard alot of apologies & crying eyes, of course.

So, like a smart woman, since I had to make him quit his job, obviously, (45 minutes away & 13 hour days amongst the scandal itself, not in my lifetime!) I put him to work! Mr. MOMI has truly become Mr. MOMi. He might quite possibly be the best employee I could have asked for. I don't think I've changed a diaper in a week & I feel fabulous :)

So that spur of the moment, random beach vacation that I took 4 weeks ago with no modeling involved was a much needed getaway since my sanity was at stake!

p.s. If I close shop & start working for the FBI don't be surprised....I can catch a liar like no other! However, an NYPD interigation officer if not my cup of tea...I played that role for a week & it is truly draining.

Honest injun....I secretly need/want to get back in my sewing room at this moment & have a midnight randevous with my sewing machine. But, if I do not hold myself hostage to this computer right now the extremely entertaining days of my life will go on & on without a blog post & surely I will forget everything humorous!

The past few days I have spent more time consoling in my fashion mentor/pattern maker/sample maker/saving grace & taking 5 minutes for myself to mentaly prepare rather than sitting with my sewing hat on...but, it is all for good reason! It is part of my "Grand" plan. You see somewhere over the rainbow there will be Pink momi, Blue momi, Momi MOMI, and little Momi shoes.

When I think back I can't really recall anything in my life that hasn't been a "fly by the seat of your pants" moment. When things happen for me it's usually fast & furious & thank goodness for that because my patience is just about non exsistant. The only thing that seems to have not happened fast & furiously is MOMI boutique. Everyday I wake up I feel like I'm climbing up the steepest mountain. There are roadblocks, there are people cheering me on, people who secretly hope I never make it, people who follow in every footstep I take which is just plain annoying, and people who shine a light & give me a little nudge to take me higher. They say slow & steady wins the race but, I am not convinced.....so, today I broke the mold. I did what I feel needed to be done. When it comes down to it I'm still growing, still learning, still trying to really figure things out. You can call me an expert, a master of my craft but, i'm not sure I am where I need to be. For the moment it works but, it's a far cry from where I hope to be. I will get where I need to be...and today I took my first leap of faith.

Mr. Momi & I drove 19 bolts of fabric (that's about 460 yards of fabric) to a manufacturer, along with my pattern & everything I thought/knew I needed to make this happen. Thankfully when I walked in the door they didn't look at me like I had 10 heads...pure success in my mind. I tried to sound like I knew exactly what I was talking about...did I really? that's half debatable. Mr. Momi started bringing in the fabric & then it happened.....we were doomed. doomed....doomed. Apparently, in the world of manufacturing they don't work with bolts...they only work with rolls (of fabric)....I never got the memo. Little did we know that we were in for a real treat. We spent over an hour & a half shut in the back room of this manufacturing location unfolding bolts onto a 20 yard table, spreading fabric, & rolling my fabric onto these huge rolls. It was absolutely the most hilarious time I have had in probably all of my working days of MOMI boutique. I could not stop laughing the entire time. To top it off...my shoe broke. I'm getting there but, from the outside looking in..I'm still a mess in a dress. I thank my lucky stars for having a meek man and for as long as I live, even if I do end up meeting Al Z. Heimer...I will surely NEVER forget that moment. Priceless. It's only the first baby step but, I can already say...

If I only knew then what I know now!

If you don't have anything nice to say...don't say anything at all.. Isn't that how the story goes?
Truth be told...it has been a long, LONG time since I actually took a moment to blog. I know it has come as a disappointment to family & friends who frequent my blog during their boredom at work & keep looking & looking for a witty little story. haha Forgive me friends for I have failed you.

For the past month I felt as if my life was a whirlwind, to say the least, & I don't think I have been the most positive petunia in the patch so I figured..better to leave it all unsaid. Here's a shortened version for your entertainment purposes now that my train is back on track & I can look back & laugh!

When we arrived home from our beach vacation, over a month ago,I decided it was time to finally start planning me & Mr. Momi's wedding. Yes...wedding. We've been legally married for 1.5 years but still no white dress, no vows, no photographs, no rings.....just a few pretty little girls, a house, & a whole lot of love. I guess that is all one really needs but, I always feel in my heart that the biggest regret that I will have in life & the thing that will eat away at me when I'm 75 & sitting in my rocker is that I never had a wedding. Not that I was ever one to fantasize about a fancy white dress & all that hoopla..quite frankly, when I was a little girl...(close your ears)...I hated dresses. I would throw an all out kicking & screaming fit if I was made to wear a dress. Anyhow, September 5th is our actual wedding date on paper so, to make it all legit & cut down on confusion, I really wanted to have our wedding ceremony on September 5th. I don't think it occured to me until we started receiving "Save the Date" magnets in the mail for all of the upcoming weddings on labor day weekend, that THIS was the year to have a wedding, this was the ONLY year to have a wedding because if I didn't have it now, I was going to be waiting another 6 years until September 5th wrapped back around & fell on a weekend. So I started thinking...beach..Vegas...beach..Vegas?? My brain was consumed with thoughts of a wedding. I weighed all the options, contacted the "Important" people that would be in the wedding & I felt like I was running in circles, getting nowhere fast. I thought to myself 100 times, this is too much, this is too much, I really don't have time for this. Did you know that elopement is the #1 type of wedding ceremony? Why am I absolutely NOT surprised!? Wedding planning is definately NOT a job for a lady with a 1 & a 3 year old, a 90 hour a week business, and a husband that is barely home. I slowly gave up. I didn't pass the duty to someone else, I just plain quit! By the end of it I was no longer thinking..beach..vegas..beach..vegas...I was thinking..who is moving out? you or me? I definately slowly drove myself & Mr. Momi up a wall & thank goodness I quit before I completely fell off the edge. I firmly believe that everyone has a unique series of events that happens in their life for a reason. So in my life oopsie daisy #1 & #2 came along before a wedding ceremony.....I always say to Mr. Momi that things didn't happen in the "right way, the right order", maybe I'm just looking for some reassurance that we are still "normal" & his reply is always..."the right way according to who?". Ah yes, maybe one day I will get that beach wedding.

In the midst of it all my body was not functioning well with these outlandish wedding thoughts & it slowly started to let me know. I became nauseous around 1pm every single day for a month. Although I knew I was not pregnant, the thought crossed my mind that I might be the next contestant on the "I didn't know I was pregnant" show & my favorite mistake #3 was going to just suddenly make her way into the world without my prior knowledge. I traded my coffee pot for green tea & substituted my cans of coke for a bottle of h2o. The nausea stopped & suddenly I was having these upper abdominal contractions/pain that took me down to my knees. I would lay in my sewing room and cry & cry. Mr. Momi would say to me...just tell your customers your sick, people do understand those kind of things. I shot down my voice of reason & kept at it. Actually, I did close my shop one Friday morning because it occured to me...what if I am a goner? What if my body is just breaking down & I'm done? I surely thought I was going to lose an organ or be given the diagnosis of stomach cancer. I was in & out of doctors & had every test up & down the chart performed. At the end of my rope I was given the diagnosis of crazy. Personally, I will take crazy over cancer ANY day of the week! (for the record, my doctor did not actually say I was crazy, he said they found nothing of concern & since the pain subsided he was not going to order anymore tests) Hallelujiah!!! Almost the day after I had closure in that department I came down with a nasty 104.1 fever/virus to prolong my no blogging, no working schedule...and then...to top it all off! the straw that broke the camels back was dropped in regards to the girls daycare situation so, I took then completely back into my care 24/7 ....fantastic! I get a second shot at motherhood! On the flip side, I am grateful it all came down to this. They expressed many times that they are happy to be home with mommy & I'm happy to feel that my days are a little more balanced. Needless to say, the coffee pot is back on the counter & the fridge is filled with cans of coke to get me through the days of my life. With the girls home with me I am now given no choice but to stop & smell the roses...I guess that is why even though I managed to neglect & kill 3 hanging baskets over the course of a month last spring....I found ambition in me this spring to plant what seemed like hundreds of flower seeds...I guess only time will tell if my garden will grow!

Things have been fairly quiet here at Momi boutique...except for the sound of my sewing machine of course. I believe most of the world knows I've been gearing up to go out of town in 2 days. We are oh So very excited to go see our family in North Carolina and beach modeling can absolutely not be beat..it's complete cooperation from every angle & pure natural beauty....

I believe I have cut & sewed over 50 different pieces over the past 5 days. Alot of time spent at the sewing machine equals ALOT of caffeine, sleepless nights, & checking messages & tweets on my phone.

5 days, one case of Coke & a box of girl scout cookies later I believed I had about enough of the sewing room. I went in to grab my phone off my desk today, updated my twitter and there it was....the tweet that I had been dreading for the past 10 months.

My heart got heavy & sank right down to my feet..the same way it had when I first heard the word "neuroblastoma" come from Shanna. I actually knew exactly what neuroblastoma was when she told me.

Coincidentaly, about a month or so before Layla was diagnosed, I was aimlessly browsing the web one night & ended up stumbling on a blog of an etsy shop owner who was raising money to fund a memorial for her little girl who became an angel much too soon. There was to be a playground built in her honor and it was called Cora's playground project. http://themcclenahans.blogspot.com/2009/02/coras-story.html I found this blog just about a month or so after she passed & spent until 4 am reading & weeping..or should I say sobbing. I kept thinking..oh please, oh please Mr. Momi do not wake up, you will surely think I have completely lost my marbles sitting up at 4 am balling my eyes out at the computer. After that I do believe I slowly became a hypochondriac with my children, always feeling for bumpy bellies or any slight sign of something out of the ordinary.

I never EVER thought it would come to this. I always thought that there was just NO WAY layla was going to go. I really was hoping for a miracle, a simple twist of fate for Layla Grace. Please keep her family in your thoughts during this trying time. Her spirit will forever live on & her captivating smile will never be forgotten. I know that some of you have been asking how I ever found out about Layla. It was just about a year ago that Layla's mommy became a Momi fan. She came in one day & nearly wiped my shop out..I just about fell off my chair. A few weeks later I received an email from her of her sweet sweet girls in their Momi boutique. (p.s. I did not make the outfit on the right) Since that day I can't help but always think of Layla as the little girl in the stroller, snacking on goldfish in her sock monkey suit :) Her two youngest are just about the same ages as Lily & Leah so we were standing on common ground and always had positive vibes. Since that day I always hoped that I could in some way make her feel as important as she made me feel. However, it will have to be on a day that my husband does not ask me on his way out the door..."are you going through menopause"?..as he did today! I have been bouncing words around in my head for the past few days. Sure I could go on about the 2 new designs that I released in my shop yesterday...or that miraculously out of nowhere the wildflower fabric that I had been so seeking FOREVER appeared in my local fabric shop. I could tell the world to chalk me up on the list of girls that Jon Gosselin lied to and that I will probably never see my New York City trip..P.S. next time there is a blizzard I will be sure to park his car that is in my garage, in the street.

Or maybe you would all like to know that my resent frequenting of a local fabric shop that I used to work for from ages 13-21 has seriously paid off and they set me up with the wised owl in the tree when it comes to the fashion industry. Maybe you will be as excited as I am if I tell you that he has seen the ins & outs, ups & downs of the industry, used to own his own factory, worked with designers in New York, Victoria's Secret, Juicy couture, and Capezio..to name a few. He has seen the industry overseas, is a pattern maker, has a studio with cutting equipment, and has a serious team of sewers that he can call in at any given moment. Maybe you will be excited to know that I already have him working on something fabulous. He is the leverage I need to seriously make it happen, expand my line, create a momi empire. If I don't take this opportunity & run with it, I'm a complete fool.

But, when it comes down to brass taxes, right now, none of that is at the top of my priority list.

Almost 3 years ago I was the maid of honor at my best friend's wedding. During my speech I included her favorite quote..

"One day can make your life, One day can break your life. All life is, is four or five days that change everything"

If I could change the words of that quote around and have it apply to people, rather than days...I would say that Layla Grace is definately one of my four or five people that changed everything.

There is not a moment that goes by when I am sitting at my sewing machines she is not running through my mind. This little bundle of love has managed to rock all of our worlds. It is almost a daily occurence that I get an email from a MOMI mom saying how she can't stop thinking about Layla or she cried on the way to work, or my best friend/graphic designer who says she was crying AT work.

He couldn't get over all of the dresses I have hanging around & had no idea what to do with all of them so I decided it was time & it just has to be done. Today I woke up, January 19th, and like every year for as long as I've been alive on January 19th I turn another year older. I thought to myself as I was printing out shipping labels at 6:30 in the morning....28...hmm..am I old enough to retire??? Surely that can be arranged, right!?

I had a realization today...
I made Mr. Momi stop at Border's books after lunch because I've had this GC hiding in my purse for the past 2 years. I had the grand idea last night after Lily & Leah fought sleep for 3 hours & ran around like wild banshees that either I was submitting the form online to be considered for Supernanny or I was going to go buy a book on discipline because clearly I am no longer cut out for the job. Let it be known that if you walk into a book store these days it seems like the only thing you can find as you walk around and around in circles are books on diet, exercise, and cooking. Everything from Skinny Bitch to Hungry Girl and Love pray eat! I swore I was going to write a book someday but, I don't think anyone is going to buy a book titled:
The 3 C's of Sanity: Cheese-itz, Coca-cola, and Children's custom clothing....
although, I could be onto something :)

Now anyhow, I finally found the shelf of "parenting" books, 15 discipline books...15! Besides the covers of the books, I'm pretty sure they were all saying basically the same thing, although, I was not reading between the lines and what do I know about discipline anyhow..obviously nothing. At that moment I wasn't even disciplined enough to make a decision and choose one of those 15 books, I turned around after 10 minutes of browsing and left empty handed. After coming home and telling the story to my mom on the phone of how my day was going my heart sank for a second and I thought to myself...OMG..this is how I make my customers feel everyday. Everyday I give them 20 pairs of ruffles pants, 20 peasant dresses, 20 knot dresses....all in 20 different colorways and they come to my shop to ease their minds and have a look at some lovelies and then leave and abandon their full shopping carts in a frazzell all because I had to go buying out every fabric store in the state! Well, to set you into a larger state of confusion..there are still 12 more spring pieces to be listed in the next day or so. After that I promise I will not be listing much until mid march.

I LOVE Sundays. I'm pretty certain that my love for Sundays came about when we moved to Pennsylvania and it became a guarantee that my husband could not even get called into work for a split second on a Sunday...pure bliss!

As you may already know I have the most FABULOUS graphic designer who I love dearly & has been my best friend since the age of 2. We lived next door to each other our entire lives so we have always been close like sisters. A week or so back she showed up at my door with her boyfriend flashing her hand in my face with her mouth open wide like she was catching bugs, I think there was a shriek that came out of her mouth but, it was such a high pitch that I could bearly even hear it because I was completely stunned. The moment had come that we talked about for what seemed like years. I do recall one of the first words to come out of her mouth was "start making those flower girl dresses!". I though..hmm..does MOMI make flower girl dresses?? I do believe I even asked my friend the same question & reply was something along the lines of....everything you make it amazing so I am sure I will love them. I guess I did dream up my portraits & petal pushers dress that I absolutely LOVED on Lily so I thought SURE...I can do this! I've been searching high and low this week for some fancy fabrics to experiment with so let it be known that slowly but surely Momi will now be offering flower girl dresses that can double as some wonderful portrait, party, & easter dresses! Although, the first dress that I created Lily, Leah, & Lori went completely gaga over so my adventures in flower girl dress making may just stop right there! Only time will tell!

Forgive me friends for I have failed you. Not only have I just looked back and realized I have blogged once, just ONCE, since the new year but, my humor for the moment has gone completely out the window, there is good reason! When this cats away, she does not play....I have been hard at work, oh SO VERY hard at work. Endless days in & days out of nothing but continuous sewing & sewing some more, to come up with some of the most fabulous pieces that will grace the pages of MOMI boutique this spring & summer. Yes, you did hear that right..the most fabulous! :)

I am in a constant struggle to convince Mr. Momi that we NEED to go down to the beach house today, tomorrow, next week..but, he is not convinced. So sadly, I will be stocking up on anything & everything that makes your children stay awake for 10 days straight, in order to get Lily & Leah under complete cooperation for some indoor modeling. However, if Mr. Momi finds it in his heart to change his mind & spontaneously take me on a beach vacation for my birthday next week...I will not have to follow through with my new years resolution of slathering stress relief lotion all over my body twice a day. :)

Elaborating on that topic...stress relief lotion...let me paint the picture here for you:
During my holiday shopping I bought this stress relief lotion intending to give it to my mom..then it popped in my mind that I'm sure she will not enjoy the eucalyptus/spearmint smell so I thought..ah ha..I'll give it to my sister..well, when the moment came I decided that maybe I secretly did indeed buy it for myself so I wrapped that little canister up with a bow on top and put it right under the tree just for me!

We were having a very quiet New Years eve at home with my sister when of course the topic of resolutions came up & nothing really popped in my mind as to what I need to do or give up..ok, except maybe stop buying unforseen amounts of fabric..but, I joked and said...."I think I need to start slathering stress relief lotion all over my body twice a day"....and then the moment of truth....a little voice came from the living room floor..a little girl who was so mentally indulged in her coloring books....said with the most bulsterous voice..."yeah, THAT'S FOR SURE!"....and that my friends, is how my new year started, rolling off my seat laughing. Children are not afraid to tell you EXACTLY how it is...always go to them for the most honest opinions. It is now my resolution to document everything my daughter says & someday I may write a book :)

I must confess, I do believe I have a serious Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. When there are orders to complete...you can just cross sleep & social interactions completely off my list. I'm not sure if I am trying to go down in history with the quickest turn around time of all time, or I just have a real problem. haha If Christmas elves truly did exist...I would be seeking out the most highly skilled elves to take over production because this lady has literally gotten 3 hours of sleep every night for the past week! On the flip side...this is just fabulous for all you Momi lovers...you need your dress tomorrow..?? Let me just fax that right over to you! :)

Despite the workaholic mode, we were able to get out last weekend for some hands down Gosselin good times full of "crooked house" play, four wheeling, & the farmer in the dell. It was unseasonably warm Wernersville weather. P.S. it is snowing outside my window now.

Elaborating on that topic...I've still found a few monents this week to obsess over "what on earth am I going to wear to NYC?". I found comfort in the thought that...I design children's clothing, not woman's clothing, so really...I could show up in a potato sak & they couldn't hold it against me...possibly?? Mr. Momi enlightened me & said that it doesn't matter what I wear because nobody ever hears about children's clothing designers and nobody even knows the owner of gymboree...thank you for your support Mr. Momi..you are officially cut off my life line :)

Here's the way the story goes....Mr. Momi wants me to make it big because he wants to go golfing everyday, Jon thinks I'm going to make it big & we are going to party like rock stars every night, & Lily is hoping her Momi modeling contract becomes null & void...personally, I would just like to find a few more hours of sleep!

Going BIG or going home!

True Story:
My day started out fairly normal...for the most part. I took the 2 hour commute to what has become one of my most loved fabric suppliers in PA. Out in the middle of absolutely Nowhere, pennsylvania popped up a fabric store & to my twinkling eye surprise I found the most awesome striped knits that have become Momi boutique's "Peppermint sticks" & "Spearmint sticks". Running low on both, I figured I'd stock up. Word to the wise...spearmint stick fabric is completely gone so..I have only a few yards on a bolt. If you love them..don't leave them go!
Did I ever mention that the peppermint sticks are going to double as amazing valentine pants & then fourth of july capris. Not to mention the spearmint sticks are completely St. Patrick's day appropriate!
Today I managed to find polka dot knits (fushia/white & white with aqua)...so very dreamy! On my way home I cross over railroad tracks with no crossing guards out in the middle of the woods...nothing in sight as far as the eye could see...and for a moment (even though I knew exactly where I was) I felt lost. I haven't been sure if I'm going left or right lately.

I get home only to realize I am locked out of the house...I run..drive,really...up to my parents, have a quick chat about the Thanksgiving day activities then head home to finish up some orders. Here's where my day took a big loopdee loop spin. I go to leave, pick up my phone laying upside down on my driver's seat...missed call...Jon....yes...Gosselin. I called him back as i'm racing back to my house not thinking anything of it..thought maybe he forgot something at our house. Although, I did know that he was going to have dinner with his design guy the night before. Then I hear him say the words that made me almost faint to the floor..."hey Rach.. I talked to my design guy he wants to meet with you in new york city so I'll just drive you up here & then I'll get you a car back" (i've known him since i was 12...no, he's not trying to swindle me haha.) My first words were...."WHAT!? when does he want to meet me?"....apparently the sooner, the better. I think somewhere during that conversation my body shot completely through the ceiling or I crumbled to the floor..I think both. Although, I do remember almost bursting up in tears...I think tears of joy...or maybe it was tears of relief. I think that was after the part that I told him I was scared & I know people dig my clothes & all that but, what am I going to say to these people!!?? I don't even know if I know what I'm talking about or if I know what I'm doing....I just do it! Besides the fact that the entire time I'm thinking to myself...what am I going to wear!? Surely I have no clothes to wear...I don't even leave the house!..so if anyone wants to let me borrow a really fabulous outfit..please send size 2 or 4...haha just kidding! So then of course he continues to scare the wits out of me & tells me i'll meet with this guy & his people in this huge building in NYC & he knows the president of osh kosh b gosh & all of the designers are up there and I shouldn't worry because he will trust Jon's opinion of me. Basically what will happen if I don't completely blow this huge opportunity is...Mr. New york haha will pick up my line...it will still be momi..unless I decide otherwise. So the part that puts the biggest smile on my face is that maybe sometime...sooner than later...every little girl's heart can belong to MOMI :)

So, I guess around christmas I will get to take my big trip to the city! I absolutely will not blog about it again until after it's all over because my blood has been pulsating through my body all day & my hands have been shaking...I could bearly tie the ribbons around your orders! I don't think I have ever felt completely scared to death & so much excitement about the exact same thing in my entire life.
Surely, a phone call that I will never forget!

I do recall saying a few hundred blog posts ago that Star magazine needs to hire me on as a writer because come November...surely I'll have a story. Well, I do & they didn't hire me so my lips are as tight as a turkey..gobble, gobble. Although, I guess it didn't help that I never applied for the job! Besides, who needs Star magazine when you have the blog of Momi boutique! haha
My sister & jon have been friends for 15 years & that's as far as I will go. But...she is a "pretty" mystery. Last night they were both emailing me pics from their phones, trying to humor me because they know that I've been sitting here googling Gosselin about every 10 minutes for the past 4 days. Apparently there are no paparazzi in Hawaii...which I do believe is true. You wouldn't think that for all the famous people who vacation there but, really, a paparazzi person could not make a living on a remote island in the middle of the ocean.

I have SO much to say I don't even know where to begin! Today is Lil's 3rd birthday so a much needed HUGE Happy Birthday to the swine flu survivor....or so we thought! The doctor had me convinced Sunday that after talking to an infectious disease doctor down at CHOP that even after 2 negative swine flu tests, she mostly likely DID have the swine flu. Well, after her repeat blood work & follow up appointment today..we're not really so sure what is going on as her inflammation is still elevated. This whole experience has been nothing short of a complete nightmare from the moment she turned grey & to ice in the doctor's office Friday night, to the 106 temp while being admitted. It is quite tramatic having a sick child, especially when your husband's tear ducts flow just as fast as hers! Big ol' softy! I, for one, know that I am absolutely NOT cut out to be the parent of a terminally ill child...no, absolutely would have to call in back up support. And thank the sparkling stars in the sky that my mom is a nurse!

Speaking of sparkling..that leads me to my next thought! The entire time we were holed up in the Reading hospital Lily kept begging to go home to her birthday party (we had one planned for Sunday). Well, when we arrived home on Sunday we made it happen! As I have already made completely clear...I am NO party planner! Lily's theme turned from Wow Wow Wubzy into..."anything Lily loves". We had wubzy, backyardigans, my little pony..and of course little silver circle confetti. Monday morning I frantically picked up all of the confetti that I was finding all over the floor, all the while thinking.."I sure hope leah doesn't swallow any of these or we may just be right back in the hotel for lead poisoning"...Sure enough, I changed the diaper & there staring me in the face was a silver sparkling confetti!
Needless to say she survived & I'll be happy to tell her someday that she poops sparkles. She'll just love that since she is the girly girl of the group!
I feel like I have been a whirlwind & am crossing my fingers tight that daycare will happen the next two days because Friday we are supposed to take flight to Florida for a mini vaca & let it be known that I have absolutely no new designs to be modeled...huge disappoint to me, however, maybe it is all for the better! I may just take those 4 days of rest & relaxation & run with them!

I never thought I would ever have to cancel an art show and I never saw this one coming but, unfortunately lily went for a doctors Appointment this evening and here we sit admitted to the Reading hotel (hospital). Let's hope it's a quick stay because some little girl had a birthday party planned for Sunday. Cross your fingers and so sorry for no art show tomorrow. I hope you'll forgive us!

Customer love to melt the heart

I'll be the first to admit...we've been struggling at the house of Momi this week...or maybe it was really just Mr. Momi that got the brunt of it all. Well, even though he got the brunt..I was surely the runt of the litter...oink oink. When my doctor told me thursday that I have the swine flu I must have looked like a deer in headlights because that is surely what I felt like. It was the first time I was at my hometown family doctor in probably 7 years & for the first time I didn't feel nervous to be there. I thought oh a little bronchitis..give me some antibiotics..send me home..nope, rachel, you are the lucky winner of the swine flu!

Yes, I was pretty certain that I was facing the death penalty. My doctor could have at least reassured me that I was indeed NOT going to crumble to the ground. Since my doctor didn't take the time to reassure me, I will be the first to reassure you that having the swine flu is really NOTHING to get worked up about if you are a semi-healthy being (I'll say semi because I'm pretty sure my diet consists soley of coca cola & cheese nips)

Quite frankly...I think I would like a dose of the swine flu about twice a year for the next 18 years if it always involved breakfast, lunch, & dinner in bed, freshly baked brownies, rented chick flicks, all of the laundry done, not having to change a diaper for 3 days...yes Mr. Momi you really outdid yourself didn't you. (I think he thought I was a goner haha)
Unfortunately for me, I believe the pig has left the building.

But on the bright side..I'm back & I'm ready to go! The steam has been blowing out of my sewing machines all morning & any orders that have not been shipped, will be shipped out this week. I do have a few more christmas things in the works but, it may be a week or two before we see those. Please do get your christmas orders in as soon as you possibly can because I will be going on a mini vacation next month so rush orders for the holiday season will not be accomodated. I was quite certain that the title of the song was cold NOVEMBER rain...apparently the clouds are getting a little ahead of themselves this year. Hey..sounds familiar. This past week I managed to purchase a few hundred yards of fabric...mostly in the most scrumptious fall colors you will ever dream so..although I am already deep into the holidays, I believe we are going to back track a bit here at MOMI & give you some more fall/winter/practical goodness. Did I just say "we"??...despite my hours of daydreaming about "if there really was a such thing as christmas elves I would get myself a few of them & put them to work"...there is really no "we". Although Lily has convinced herself that she is ready to help with her "I really wanna sew, I really really do wanna sew mommy. I gotta get my fabwics". She may be the next big thing! I had a near & dear customer comment to me in a message (around the time of my last pink momi dress event) saying enthusiastically..."I sure hope you kept some of the dresses for your girls!"....I pondered her statement & the next day I had an epiphany (haha!..some of you are probably laughing right now & yes, for the record..I did go celebrity stalking today after my post office run FOR the first time in approx 2 months. For the record...I saw NO sign on the gate)

Back to my story..truth be told...I never had let my girls keep any of the clothes I make..(gasp!) Why not you ask? I had the logic all worked out in my head..when I first started Momi boutique we lived on a tropical island with no air conditioning so, on a typical day Lily would refuse to wear anything but a diaper around the house. Other than hanging around the house we really didn't get out much because, yes, I was the mom who was scared of my baby crying in the store. Did I ever mention that Lily had colic for 5 months? Oh yes, and of course Leah had to follow her lead & have colic for 7 months..so if you happen to have a colicy baby..I will be happy to console you! I think it's needless to say why my children now go to daycare a few days a week...my patience has worn down to negative 15. Little did I know that Lily's "diaper only" days would carry over into her toddler years. I am afraid she may run off to join a nudist colony someday. The joke is..where are your clothes Lily?..Oh! Mommy sold them all! Funny but, not the case, I have a closet with over 155 Momi boutique designs that were worn for modeling only. Oh yes, it is true! Some day I will have to have a big sample sale...don't worry, you will be the first to know!!
Anyhow, to make a LONG story short...I finally have started making Momi clothes for my own girls to keep :) The staple dress that I keep going back to is their Mother Nature knot dresses & now we have paired it with the chocolate punch dots..a fabulous combo! It is so amazing to see all of the people who turn their heads, point, or just come right up to us & compliment the designs. (sorry to keep you on the edge of your seat..I just know that sometimes I have good intentions of listing & one hour seems to fade into another & before I know it, the day is done)

Now if I must say so myself..don't those boots just scream..Octoberfest. Hello my little dutch girl, my my.....your mommy has some funky taste! :) I would totally steal them from her closet but, I think my feet would have to shrink to half their size.

Now here is a little story I would like to share...

Last week I had Mr. Momi do some rearranging in my sweltering shop & he convinced himself that I need to throw out my entire scrap drawer/drawers saying that it's a waste of space & I am never going to do anything with them. He had a point but, I was not convinced so the scraps stayed. The same week my sister said in a phone conversation to me.."you must have the biggest scrap box in the world". I thought, hmm, why yes...yes I do. I was wondering if they were forming some secret scrap hater society against me. But really, if we were down to our last dollar & lost heat then at least I'd have the scraps to make blankets for the babies...aside from my 127 bolts of fabric...I had myself convinced that i NEEDED those scraps. Well, last night Mr. momi must have had the heavens working on his side because an angel named Nikki was sent down & asked if I wanted to trade my scraps for hair goodies. When I saw what her shop had to offer I nearly flipped!! She didn't have to ask me twice...I was sold in an instant. You just MUST check out her awesome hair flair. Every Momi girl needs at least one!! I bet if you look in a few weeks she may even have a fabric flower that matches some of my designs!

Well, today marks the day....Mr. Momi & I have officially been married for one year...yes, you read that right...just one! Honestly if you would look at our family you would never think that it has only been a year. Anyhow, to my point....a real wedding celebration has still not been had..however, this would have been the year since our actual marriage date does fall on the standard wedding day..Saturday . Looks like I may have to wait about 7 more years to wear my white dress...maybe by then I will become a vera wang myself...although, I'm not sure anyone would buy into my white colored wedding dress..I may have to go with a more appropriate color such as...grey...deep charcoal..possibly black!?? I may just start a new trend.

I do not top the charts when it comes to event/party planning so when I received this 9 page pdf file from a dear customer of little Annabelle's 1st birthday that was themed around Momi boutique's cupcake dress....my mouth dropped to the floor in awe. If my wedding is this perfectly planned someday it will only be because I hired Annabelle's mommy as my personal wedding planner. Feast your eyes on one of the yummiest birthday celebrations that I have ever seen! ...and if you ever think for a moment that one is an insignifigant, lonely little number..think again...it is just the start of something Wonderful, fresh, young, & fun!

Isn't my new model wicked cute? I made her myself...& the dress of course!

Who knew that the missing puzzle piece in my life was the all essential coffee pot. On a typical day Mr. Momi will stroll into my sweltering shop to iron his shirt for work & ask...did you even go to sleep? (not sweltering anymore..our ac is finally fixed & suddenly fall has set in) I have many many customers as well who question my sleep..or lack thereof. To anwser the pressing question...not much! I do put my heart, soul, & every waking moment into momi boutique so to make my life easier & make better use of my time I have indulged in some "things" to fuel my fire. Coffee pot...now replaces my 5 hour energy drinks...

iphone....not sure how I lived without this before. A terrific invention to say the least! I will know your every questions/concern/& comment anywhere, anytime of the day. I don't even have to get up from my sewing machine to check my mail..now that has be hands down the most lovely thing of all!

And to top the charts I decided it was time to crank it up a notch. I realized that even after taking the girls to daycare I do not get any more accomplished than I do with them home. My machines do not have a "the girls are at daycare" button to make them go any faster....until now! I dragged my dad with me this past wednesday to Philly (yes, I am a chicken to go driving into the city myself) & splurged on an industrial sewing machine. Why I didn't have one of these babies sooner is a question that is beyond me! Basically I am a control freak with Momi & can not bring myself to allow anyone else to sew your orders..which is actually a good thing. But, at 2000 stitches a minute...this machine is faster than a cheetah & scares me. Honestly, the machine is a power house & gives me anxiety just being within 5 yards of it. One day it & me will see eye to eye...

Quite frankly, there is no good word to describe 2 day other than exuberant!

1. extreme in degree, size, or extent

2. joyously unrestrained and enthusiastic

(my blog can also be quite educating!)

The heat of summer has finally kicked in with some extreme degrees in the 90's which allows for some fabulous good old fashioned fun at the local ice cream spot. Funny how the heat never seemed to bother me in Hawaii, now I feel like I'm in a sauna...I guess that may not be such a bad thing! Lily & Leah are beyond enthusiastic & joyously unrestrained every time we make our way to the ice cream spot. Did I mention my children DO NOT get out much!

I must mention also that I have been receiving hands down some of the cutest little girls in my inbox. Thank you all & thank you always...it's moments like these that keep Momi boutique in full swing!

Remeber back in the day (or maybe it was just a month or two ago!) when I had the OOAK watermelon wagon giveaway?....well, here was the end result...

I do actually have my own story for that title...

unfortunately I only have 1 more of these dresses available, up to a size 2T, unless I start actively seeking out more of the pink floral fabric...which at this point...is debatable. You can find the dress relisted in my etsy shop this evening.

Now to the other side of the story..so I got to daydreaming in my head...would it honestly be possible for me to snag myself Kate Major's journalist position. Afterall...it was my dream in life to move to New York City...somehow I ended up in Hawaii & now back here in Wernersville. I'm not sure if Star knows it but, come November when Jon (minus Kate & her 8) goes out to Hawaii for Shane Victorino's wedding....they are definitely going to want me on their team.

Now here is a story I've been holding out on you. For 2 years...yes, TWO solid years....I have been trying & trying with all of my mite to master high key pictures. See..when I started out in "boutique world" little did I know that you had to also be an accomplished writer & photographer. The writing part I had down pat...the photography...not so much. Lucky for me Lily was born with a full head of hair & in Hawaii the sun was always shining. But, one thing that I wanted so badly to master was "high key" pictures. I'm sure if you are anyone who knows me personally you have heard me talk about "high key" pictures on numerous occasions. It's basically when the background is completely blown out of the picture..like you would get from a studio portrait. In Hawaii I tried to turn out 4X4 kitchen into a high key studio with a white sheet, a white board floor, & 4 huge worker lights from Lowe's...talk about heat. Poor Lily & a complete flop. After we moved to PA I tried & tried & tried again. I bought the big studio lights, a newer/better camera, set up a white sheet, had the girls play in front of it for about 4 hours & nothing. Defeat. After I found out from a friend who lives in my neighborhood that our backyard neighbors thought that I had some "Jon Bennet Ramsey" thing going on with Lily (HAHA) I decided I wanted more options so I asked Mr. Momi if I could paint the garage. Of course he said "sure....what color are you going to paint it?" Little did he know! Our "across the street neighbors" must now think we are a little on the wild side since our garage has fabulous blocks of colors in shades of blue, red, pink, & white. Anyhow, I knew that it was the absolute best place for a photography studio because despite the fact that we never use our garage...during the day it becomes completely sundrenched if the doors are open. Alas...Victory....My high key pictures have been achieved & all it took was a paint roller, some primer, manual mode on my camera, & a little bit of determination.

Well, my ears have survived the night & we are safely tucked back in Wernersville. I must say of the 3 locations I saw ASG play (Haliewa, HI, Margate, NJ, & Avalon, NJ) this show was by far my favorite. Don't be scared....Lily likes to rock out to ASG! You can click on "tour dates" at the top of the web page to see if they are coming to a town near you...they do tour across the nation. However, I will warn you...bring your ear plugs for sure & you may lose power in your town that night.

Art Show Saturday moved to Sunday!

Let it be know that Jon Gosselin is not the only one in Wernersville, PA who is "excited" this week...I also have many reasons to be!

First I must tell you that although I never wanted to/or thought I would have to do this...Art Show Saturday must be moved to Sunday June 29th at 11:00. The reason being is that Mr. Momi & I are taking a spontaneous overnight trip to the beach to see his friend's punk rock band. Now typically I'm not so much a punk rock kind of girl, however, these are his best friends so although my ears may not function afterwards...I will take full advantage of this awesome overnight getaway without the girls..which never happens.

Speaking of "without" the girls....I also must tell you that I have found my Mary Poppins! I haven't searched long & hard but, I did decide to search again. Mr. Momi & I went to check out a daycare this week (since I am at the breaking edge of loosing my patience running a 24 hour a day at home business with a 1 year old & a 2 year old & a husband who's gone almost 14 hours a day..it's been long overdue)...ANYHOW, she was perfect from the begining & the girls loved it so 2 days a week I get to take a shower, go to the bathroom, eat, & work in complete silence. The radio is the only thing to keep me company & so far, so good!

Now for the grandest news of all....I am making progress & moving in the exact direction that I want to be going. I am thrilled to inform you that Momi boutique will be offered in a children's boutique in Santa Ynez, California. A dear friend/customer of mine & her husband own a shoe store & she is now opening a children's boutique as well. The shop will be opening this summer so if you are planning a trip to California or you live in California send me an email at momi_boutique@hotmail.com if you would like more information in regards to the location! There will be unique pieces offered that are only available in her boutique & she is just a joy to converse with!
